Hi, I'm Kelly brock-spano!
Assistant Professor, Clinical Nutritionist, and Doctoral Candidate
Thank you so much for stopping by! Whether you are a student, a prospective client, an event organizer, or a fellow academic, I’m so glad you’re here.
At the core of everything I do—whether I am standing in front of a university lecture hall, consulting with a private client, or speaking to an audience—is a simple, heartfelt and passionate mission: to break down complex clinical science and transform it into practical, life-changing tools that give you real control over your health.
True wellness isn't about rigid rules, stressful restriction, or overwhelming medical jargon. It’s about understanding how your body actually works so you can make informed, peaceful choices.
My work is all about bridging the gap between elite academic research and the realistic, day-to-day habits that help people truly thrive.
My Research: Where Health Meets Higher Education
As a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership, my academic passions go hand-in-hand with my clinical nutrition background. My dissertation research focuses deeply on the intersection of student health, academic burnout, and financial inequities.
Specifically, I study how modern educational demands, credential inflation, and the heavy weight of student loan debt physically affect our bodies and drain our physiological resources. I use this unique research to advocate for healthier, more sustainable environments in both academic and corporate settings.
In the Lecture Hall: Featured Courses
I absolutely love teaching and designing engaging academic experiences! I split my time between educating the next generation of healthcare professionals and helping first-year students successfully transition into college life.
-
Holistic & Integrative Wellness (Curriculum Creator): I personally built and developed the entire curriculum for this course to introduce students to evidence-based, functional lifestyle medicine. It has quickly become an incredibly popular, high-demand class on campus!
-
First-Year Experience (FYE): Helping incoming college students navigate major life transitions, build time-management skills, and protect their mental wellness from academic burnout.
-
Nutrition Science & Applied Clinical Nutrition: Teaching the deep physiological science behind how food impacts the human body on a cellular level.
Media, Features & Interviews
I love sharing insights outside the classroom, too!
Here is a glimpse at some of my recent professional features and media appearances
Featured Alumna Spotlight (Remote Video Interview): I sat down with my alma mater, Northeast College of Health Sciences, to share my career trajectory, my passion for clinical nutrition, and how I blend my private practice with higher education

Speaking, Guest Lecturing & Advocacy
I love stepping outside the classroom to share what I’ve learned with campuses, community groups, and workshops. My goal is always to keep things conversational, warm, and highly practical—turning complex ideas into real-world insights that people can actually use.
Topics I’m Passionate About Sharing:
Hormonal Health Advocacy: This work is incredibly close to my heart, as I navigate my own personal journey living with endometriosis. I use my academic and clinical background to help raise awareness and am honored to be partnering with the Endometriosis Foundation of America for upcoming advocacy events. I love opening up honest, supportive conversations around chronic conditions like endo, PMOS (formerly PCOS), and thyroid health.
Navigating Academic & Corporate Burnout: A look at the real physical toll that chronic stress, heavy workloads, and everyday pressures take on our bodies, and how we can practically start restoring our energy.
The Intersection of Stress & Success: Discussing how modern educational demands, financial anxieties, and student debt impact our overall health and long-term well-being.
Behind the Credentials: A Little About Me!
When I’m not in the classroom, writing my dissertation, or working with clients, here is a glimpse into my world and the things that bring me joy:
My Little Family
I married my husband, Nick, in 2024, and
we recently bought our first home together!
Our absolute pride and joy is our rescued pup, Spike,
who keeps us on our toes
and ensures I get my daily steps in!
The Ultimate Bookworm
Reading is my absolute favorite hobby!
If you ever need a recommendation for a gripping psychological thriller
or a page-turning mystery, I’m your person!
Current TV
I am a huge fan of crime dramas—you can usually find me catching up on shows like Elsbeth. And when I just want to wind down, I have a massive soft spot for watching satisfying cleaning videos on YouTube.
Travel Happy Place
I love to travel whenever I get the chance, and Aruba is hands-down
my favorite place to relax and recharge.
The Current Hustle
Life is beautifully busy right now! I am officially in the final dissertation phase of my doctoral program, with a target graduation date of December 2026.
Why Advocacy is My Calling
While I love the science of wellness, my passion for reproductive and
hormonal health advocacy stems from my own personal heartaches and victories.
I am an endometriosis warrior, and
I survived a life-altering ectopic pregnancy
that was thought to be caused by the condition.
As of 2026, we are currently navigating
the IVF journey
to create our dream family.
I share this because I have lived it.
I know firsthand what it feels like to navigate a complex medical system, to feel dismissed, and to experience the profound physiological and emotional toll
of health struggles.
You are never just a client or a statistic to me.
I am right there in the trenches with you, and
I am fiercely dedicated to ensuring no one has to walk this path alone.
